PRAY FOR SLAVIK

IIMG_0641n July we shared Slavik’s story (here) concerning his arrest and difficult circumstances. We have recently spent more time with Slavik and wanted to update you on his situation. In July he was put on house arrest for stealing and has since been awaiting trial. His trial is officially set for this Monday, October 27th. Slavik shared with us that he committed his crime with a group of people and they are all being put on trial together. Unfortunately, this means that he has to see his brother and the other men that were involved in the crime. Beyond that fact, the rest of the group has planned and executed over one hundred crimes but Slavik was only involved in nine of these accounts. According to Slavik’s lawyer there is a lot of evidence in his favor: Slavik does not have a criminal record prior to this, he is cooperating with the police, he does not drink, and he has finished trade school. The lawyer talked to Slavik’s brother and asked him to testify in court that Slavik has not been involved in all of the crimes and that he pressured him to participate. Slavik is struggling with the uncertainty of the trial and is unsure of what the outcome will be. His lawyer is fighting to get him sentenced to two years on parole but has mentioned that he could face up to four years in prison. In the midst of waiting for his trial, Slavik is participating in our post-orphanage programs and looking for a steady job.

We are thankful to be a part of Slavik’s story and a support to him through this season. Please join us in praying for Slavik; specfically on Monday. Pray that he would have peace in knowing that God is in control. Pray that his brother would give an honest testimony and that the judge would see Slavik as an individual rather than a part of the group.
