Hello friends of Open Arms!
We hope this message finds you doing well in the crazy times we’re all living in these days. We wanted to send out an update and share an opportunity to double your donation.
As always, our team continues to live life as a part of the community of Ivanivka and is constantly seeing needs and opportunities to be a friend. The school in the neighboring village (where many of the kids from Ivanivka attend) has expressed a need for a new blackboard in one of their classrooms. Outreach to V and Miss O have become part of almost every day’s activities. Sometimes the orange fence feels like a revolving door of guests coming to visit… neighbors, family, friends and everyone in between have been staying with us more nights than not in the past month or so! Next month we are planning an overnight youth camp for kids from Sumy and Ivanivka. We’ve got a great space with our big yard and pool and games for the kids and are looking forward to utilizing it! Stay tuned for more details about that in the weeks to come! Some days are more eventful than others, but we are there 24/7 behind the orange fence, ready for whatever comes our way.
If we’re honest, the last few months have been hard as outreach needs have been high and donations have been low. Our reserves in the bank have dwindled lower than they’ve been in years, which has had us tightening things up more than we’d like to. So today we are coming to you to ask you to give to help us continue to serve the people of Ukraine. We have received a generous offer from a donor willing to match up to $2500 of donations to help cover all the general fund needs right now!!
