MINCHENKO CHILDREN’S HOME

By September 7, 2023Blog

There’s a family at our church in Sumy called the Minchenkos. Ira recently said about them, “I’ve known Sveta [the mom in the family] since the beginning of the church. When she first joined church their family was really poor, her biological kids didn’t have enough food to eat. So our church tried to help them. Their big family of 8 lived in an apartment. But her heart was always so kind to others. Sveta served homeless, alcoholics, and many others. Before Covid started, she had visited the children’s cancer department every week to talk about Jesus with moms there and brought toys and sweets for kids. She encouraged the church to join her so we did Bible lessons for kids. She is always in places where people suffer the most. They are hardworking and had a lot of land and farm animals to feed their family.”

Now this family is in need of help to move from their home near the Russian border. They are looking to raise a total of $10,000 to buy a new house further west in Ukraine. Please consider supporting this family through the link below!

This is a message from Mrs. Minchenko:

The Mіnchenko Children’s Home is a family-style residential facility where we care for orphaned children: Artem, Ilya, Anya, Lyubov, Aliona, Denis, Maxim, Darynka, Artemiy, Volodymyr, aged 9 to 17 years old. Two of them have disabilities. Each child bears their own bitter and painful fate with their biological families.

Despite the tragedies these children have endured in their lives (two have lost their parents), as well as hardship, sorrow, betrayal, mistreatment, hunger, illness, and loneliness. We strive to provide them with joy, love, warmth, and parental care, and teach them kindness and good deeds. We aim to instill in them faith and trust in Jesus Christ.

Three months ago, we welcomed Aliona, Ilya, and Artem into our family. They had experienced cruelty, mockery, and degradation. Thirteen-year-old Aliona had never received medical treatment, and after undergoing examinations, it has been revealed that she has several diagnoses and is now disabled.

Our home is situated near the border with Russia, and we hear explosions almost every day. Yet, we thank our Lord God for holding us in His loving hands. 🙏 Throughout this time of war, our Heavenly Father has guarded us “as the apple of His eye.” We entrust our lives to the Lord. There have been anxious and fearful days, but we prayed to Jesus Christ, and He was by our side. This is why we have joy, peace, and tranquility in God. Now we are looking to buy a house further from the shootings and danger. It’s about $10000. We would appreciate every penny.

We are grateful to God for all the people who don’t stand apart during difficult times, months of war, and grief in our beloved Ukraine. Who share in the suffering of Ukraine, its children, and all Ukrainians.
