October came as fast as the leaves have been falling off the trees. Our American team came back the second week in October and dove right in.

Highlights of October:

-We had a great meeting with the head of the village about the playground we want to build for the kids in the village.

-We were able to connect with the interim director of the orphanage to talk about future outreach.

-We have partnered with the English teacher at the orphanage to support her wonderful work and help the kids succeed in learning English. We were even allowed to sit in on an English class and interact with the kids.

-Our own Open Arms Ukraine team member Dusya gave birth to the sweetest baby girl Emilia. We are all very in love with our newest member of OAU.

-We were invited and attended a costume party put on by the oldest girls at the orphanage. This is a great way to continue to have relationship and serve at the orphanage.

When we first started OAU the dream was always that eventually Ukrainians and more specifically kids that had been through the orphanage system would one day lead OAU.

We couldn’t more excited about the plans for an upcoming camp. Sasha is one of our current team members who himself grew up at the orphanage. Vasya is another who also lived in the orphanage and they now that are teaming up to plan a camp for kids whose lives very much mirrored their own. Their hearts for these kids is truly remarkable. They can understand them in a way we never will. We are so excited to come along and partner and support their efforts to have a short camp that will not only give this kids a safe place to relax, learn about God’s goodness, have fun, but also feel how truly special they are.
